OFFSTAGE: Martina McBride Talks Trust Issues With Chelsea Handler
Martina McBride
This is how Chelsea Handler describes Martina McBride's new album Eleven: "It's real cute." McBride was on Handler's show Chelsea Lately Thursday night (Oct. 27), and after the "cute" comment, they ended up talking more about hot mess Blake Shelton than the album. But then they got into a discussion about how McBride is more of a glass-is-half-empty kind of person. "I'm a little suspicious of everybody, anyway," she admitted to Handler. And she blamed the Penetrators. That was the first band she was in as a teenager back in Sharon, Kan. "This is why I have trust issues. I grew up in Kansas in a very, very, very, very small town. I was just really nave," McBride told Handler. "I was 17 years old, and I joined this band, and they said they were gonna name the band the Penetrators. And I was like, 'Yeah, like, we'll penetrate you with our music.' I had no idea." She also admitted she used to think the 1976 Starland Vocal Band's sexy "Afternoon Delight" was just about having fun in the afternoon. Now that is cute.
